What are you up to at the moment?

This and that; played a show with Triple J favourites The Griswold’s last night which was all well and good fun. Other than that we’ve been recording an EP in our makeshift backyard studio which is being cut into something delicious right now.

 

Plans for the future?

The usual... Play on David Letterman, sell out Wembley Arena etc. But basically taking to the streets of Australia and playing a few sneaky interstate shows should certainly be on the not-too-distant agenda.

 

Whats your biggest achievement to date?

Last night’s show certainly springs to mind... Our first and only rehearsal with our stand-in drummer was the sound check several hours before the show, and we didn’t even have an opportunity to rehearse 3 of the songs on our set until we performed them live. Somehow we managed to not absolutely fuck it up, so I’m pretty chuffed about that! I’m sure we’ve probably ‘achieved’ some more venerable feats in the past, but that’s definitely freshest in my mind.

 

What are your Influences?

Queens of the Stone Age, Led Zeppelin, Chili Peppers all rank highly. Anything with Josh Homme, Dave Grohl or Jack White. The list could keep going; I think those are the main ones that best reflect the sounds we make. That said, we’ll listen to anything from Mozart to Pantera to Florence  to Kanye, and even if we’re not shredding or composing requiems it all contributes to the thought process of making something new.

 

What can punters expect at one of your shows?

Having a ball. I think that’s the bottom line for us playing; everyone’s supposed to be having fun. That means us, and that means everyone watching, and the two normally seem to go hand in hand – we see a lot of broad lively smiles wherever we look in the crowd. I’d like to say you’ll see good songs performed well – judge for yourself – but certainly if you need a pick-up, we’ll take care of you!

 

What's the weirdest experience you've had as an artist?

I think overall we’re behind the eight-ball – in fact our whole musical generation is behind the eight-ball in terms of weirdness. We don’t have any stories for you of band sex-parties involving sea creatures or trying to throw someone from the support band into an elevator shaft (Gun’s n’ Roses tried that one). And even if we did we’d probably need someone else to propagate them to add the mystery of whether or not it actually happened. So if we’re ever rumoured to having done some incredibly weird shit, you’ll hopefully just hear it through the grapevine and never know the truth.

 

What is your dream support slot?

See the above list, that’ll do pretty well. In essence, if it’s anything involving Josh Homme or Dave Grohl that’s perfection, that’s bliss right there.
